We work hard to keep all our legal mumbo jumbo as simple as possible, but we still have to have it.
The Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA) is a body of law promoting the right of access to information and fostering a culture of transparency and accountability in South Africa.
Under certain circumstances, PAIA enables natural or legal persons to access information which is, or may be, being stored by a private body like SimplePay. PAIA balances the right of access to information with the rights to privacy, commercial confidentiality and other rights listed in chapter 2 of the Constitution and is enforced by the Information Regulator (IR).
SimplePay is fully committed to its obligations under PAIA and in order to assist a person wishing to access records held by us, we have compiled a Section 51 Manual which facilitates requests for information held by SimplePay. Please refer to the IR’s website for more information regarding PAIA.
