The Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA) is a body of law concentrating on freedom of information. Under certain circumstances, PAIA enables natural or legal persons to access their information, which is, or may be being stored by a public or private body. PAIA balances the right of access to information with the rights to privacy, commercial confidentiality and other rights listed in chapter 2 of the Constitution. The Act is enforced by the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).
To meet our obligation under PAIA, SimplePay has created the SimplePay Section 51 Manual, providing you with all the information you need to make a properly constructed request, should you need to. To make things easier for you, we have also added links directing you to the relevant pages on the SAHRC website.
A request must be made using the prescribed “Form C” and contain all the information outlined in point 7 of the SimplePay Section 51 Manual. Once you have lodged a request you can expect a response on the outcome within 30 days from the date your submission is received.
